Using Gallery2 Photo Gallery

Basic Steps in Using the Gallery2 Photo Gallery

There were several things we felt were lacking in our photo handling capabilities. We have been working on improving them. We have made some significant progress and changes.

We would like you to upload your photos to the photo gallery before adding them to your posts. You may also use the photo gallery for storing your personal photo if you want. You will use your blog login name to login to the gallery software. When you login a photo album will be created in your name. You can add additional album, hide and password protect both individual photos and sub albums. For example if you look at the gallery when you are not logged in you will not see a sub album under training that is called statistics. I have set the permissions so that only Authors on our blog can see it. When you log in and go there you will be able to see and access the photo.

Uploading Photos

You can upload files from your computer, one at a time or many files at a time, we recommend the upload applet for batch uploads – start with a small number of files, to be sure they go in the album you want them in.

One very nice feature is when you have found a free to use picture on another site, there is now no need to copy the file to your computer then upload it to another site. You can upload it directly to an album in the gallery by entering the URL for the picture.

Inserting Images Into posts

The option used here is the image "tumbnail with link to lightbox image" You can also see the steps in photos in the photo gallery under training.

Insert pictures 2

This will insert the thumbnail in your post, then right click the thumbnail and select image properties, set align left and Hspace to 10 maybe change the alt text and save.

the popup window will close and you should be done.

There are a lot of options to play with, help yourself.

While we still have a few cosmetic changes and are still learning some of the more advanced management capabilities, it works fine.

Regular readers can register on the gallery and upload pictures and create albums too. So, you may want to have a contest, or solicit photos on a topic. If there is enough interest we are looking at providing limited video uploads too.

Sounds good. Guidelines are clear - thanks.
