The Carnival Of Healing

I was impressed by the quantity and quality of the submissions we have received.

The last Carnival was hosted by the  Carnival of Healing #127 with with a blog devoted to Reki Healing and a wide range of posts, covering Mental and Spiritual Healing,  Nutrition, Fitness, Massage therapy, Physical Healing, and Beauty Advice.

The #129 Carnival of Healing will be on Mar 15 2008 and hosted by Hueina Su, Intensive Care for the Nurturer’s Soul

Please contribute to continuing this long lived carnival by contributing a post. The best way to submit one is using the carnival submission form.

Nourish Ourselves - Blog Review

 blog-review-screenshot-nourish

New Blog  Review- Nourish

Quick Summary - This is a new blog  called Nourish so where it is going is not easy to tell. This author is a good writer.  A little uneven, but the approach is good.  Design is a very plain blogspot theme, as such it is ok, I would like a little lighter color selection to lift the mood abit.

Blog Content -

A single quote from the blog gives one a good feel for the tone of it.  " I feel…better? I’m not sure what it is to feel better, so it is taking me a while to recognize it. "  It is, so far, a mostly personal journey, but written with an awareness of the reader. I look forward to seeing where it is a year from now. There are some interesting resources in the sidebar.

Blog Design  - One word, standard.  The sidebar has an interesting introduction to the blog and some related resources. I would lighten up the colors a little.

C. Technical Review

From a technical view point it is a very simple blog. One widget that is new to me and though it takes up quite a bit of space is Shelfari. It is worth a click and a quick browse. When the blog develops more content I would consider adding a category based menu.

Blog Review - Backfaqs

New Blog - BackFaqs

Quick Summary - This is a new blog, nice clean design.  A good About page. Not much content yet but a good start, clear and concise posts.

Blog - It is probably a little soon to evaluate the content of this blog. The couple of posts currently available are well written. New and/or interesting content will be the challenge in this relative narrow niche. The content so far seems to be targeted at the general reader with an issue related to back pain. There are a lot of sites out there covering this topic, so she will need to reach her readers first (excellent SEO/promotion) or approach it in a way that helps it standout.

Blog Review - Medillogy

Mediology - the Journey

This is a younger blogger, entering college planning on  a medical career. A  pretty good writter. One of the better posts is doctors the public and money

He has picked up the frequency of his posting and it will make his blog a worthwhile visit.  He has an interesting perspective on the medical field and an ethical outlook. If he keeps up his blogging through his college career it should make for some interesting reading.

One critique is that his post structure could use some improvement. Many of the posts are long blocks of text. Shorter paragraphs and bullet point would improve their readability.

The blog design is fine, but nothing special. A nice header.

Date Archives are meaningless

Proper Blog Navigation and Structure

One of the most overused and common errors in blog design is the use of date archives in an attempt to provide structure or navigation to most blogs.

They are a leftover artifact from the days when most blogs were personal journals. Now, by far the majority of blogs are written on a subject driven basis. NOT with posts like it is Tuesday and I got up and went to the doctor …. .
