SnapShots Tips

I really like the preview feature of snapshots. There are times though when I would rather be without it.  Sometimes, when I have several links to different pages on the same page or when there is a large block of links close together it can be overbearing. At those times being able to turnoff a links preview is very helpful.

You have two options one to turn off individual links or to turnoff a block of links.

To turn off the snapshot of a single link

Add the ’snap_noshots’ class to any link and it will not display the Snap Shot. For example:

<a class="snap_noshots" href="http://www.example.com">www.example.com</a>

What I find even more helpful is the ability to turn off the preview on a block of links

Advice for Our New Writers

Here are some links to the best and the brightest blogging advice and my own two cents thrown in.

The Basics

Select a good useful topic, easily broadened to be useful to a large number of readers.

  1. Prepare for your topic.
  2. Gather a group of keywords you’d like to use in your topic area. Select 10 or 20 for your general topic area. Go to Google’s Keyword Tool which will give you an idea about the number of searches and competition for various key words and give your suggested related terms. A keyword tool that combines Google and Overture tools, and a newer resource called Keyword Discovery. When time allows also use one of these tools to focus in on a Keyword phase for each post. Review your statistics, how many people are reading what posts or topics.

  3. A relevant engaging title
  4. An appropriate photo, graphic, chart or drawing - a good idea when ever possible.
  5. Use subheadings, lists and bullet points - more than 5 items or if ordered in priority use numbered lists
  6. Link to relevant resources and use track back notifications, leave a comment on the posts you refer to and let the author know you did and why. If you used their post to expand on the topic maybe they will link back to you.
  7. Edit, edit and edit again - generally shorter is better, interesting and active is essential.
  8. Once they are engaged, welcome readers who post comments and post responses designed to continue the conversation.
  9. With Apologies to Copyblogger
  10. A SUPER post is:
