Focus as best you can as you read this post – there’s a little quiz at the end (yes, it’s multiple choice)!
When picking my alias for this blog, I defaulted to what has become a habit for me in my techno world. All my passwords, logins, and pseudonyms are feel-good words. Each might be a term that to the general public is thought to connote an upbeat feeling, like, ‘icecream.’ Or, a choice might be something that conjures a happy memory for me alone – such as a visual image or a song title.
I choose these words and phrases with the distinct purpose of providing uplifting moments throughout my day. It has surprised me how easily I fall for this self imposed trick, used to ward off the downer effects of fatigue and muscle soreness, chronic symptoms for me. I find that I relax into a pleasant place as I call my words to mind and often, I take a nice deep breath as I enter them through the keyboard.
I chose SunnySkies while driving through a string of tedious errands. As I tooled along, I compiled a list of words representing upbeat images. It was a gorgeous day, so perhaps the sunny skies inspired me.
Just as the mention of ice cream has no doubt brought to each of your minds the visual of a favorite flavor, sunny skies will appear to each of you in varying images too. There is the brilliant blue of a tropical sky, and the crystal blue that only appears after a cleansing blizzard, when the trees are encrusted with sparkling ice above the gleaming white snow laden land. The latter might just be the favored sunny sky of my mind’s eye.
Sometimes, we have coax our outlook to brighten. Deliberate mechanics, such as my uplifting logins and pseudonyms, can serve this intention.
