When you feel like there are not enough hours in the day it’s easy to try to skimp on sleep. That’s the best way to get more into your packed schedule, right? That might seem like a good solution but in the long run you’re doing more harm than good.
Not getting enough sleep throws your hormones out of whack and speeds the aging process. People who get too little sleep have increased memory loss and gain weight more easily. If you don’t get enough sleep you’re more likely to go into autopilot while doing things like driving. This can be very dangerous. Lack of sleep causes impaired judgment and decreased motor coordination.
When I don’t get enough sleep I have a headache all day and can’t focus. This is an awful feeling. So I always try to get the sleep my body requires. Most people need roughly eight hours of sleep. Some people need more and some need a little less. Experiment to see what amount of sleep is right for you.
