Happiness and Technology - Youth Survey

tech-kid-phoneDon’t Take My Tech

Removal of Technology From Day to Day activities is seen to increase stress levels

While most of us realize the cell phones, the Internet and other technologies are blended into the lives of today’s young people.  We may not realize that nearly two thirds say that the involvement of technology in their lives make people happier.

Half of those young people polled say the Internet by its self helps them feel happier. And contrary to popular views of technology as a source of stress, many young people would be more stressed out without technology.

Almost half of todays youth never turn off their cell phones. Not even when trying to chill out and de-stress..

Today’s youth seem technologically dependent, they will experience extreme stress… only when it is unavailable!

Only 35% say that technology does not make them happier.

Most have periods when they fell the need to chill out and decompress:

  • 25% say very often
  • 36% say somewhat often

When the youth need to destress they:

  • Never turn off their cell phone when they choose to chill out  46%
  • Never turn off their TV when they choose to chill out..    33%
  • Think unplugging from technology would add to stress 31%
  • Say they’d be A Lot more stressed if they unplugged from technology  12%

If you are 13-24 What Role does cell phone - internet technology play in your life?

If you have childern, Do you direct your childern’s access to technology? What’s your limits.

New York, NY - August 20, 2007 - MTV and The Associated Press today began releasing the findings of an in-depth, seven-month study into happiness and young people: how happy they are, what makes them happy and what they’re doing to ensure future happiness.

I have a phone (16) but I only used it a little bit until I have a girlfriend and now I can’t turn it off as there is always a message awaiting me when I turn it back on - I do turn it off at night though as I cant be bothered with it waking me up.

Technology when im taken away from it means little to me - after a few days im fine without it.

    Hi,

I’m currently researching various weight loss programs and courses.

So, if you don’t mind please answer in this topic: What’s your single most important question about weight loss?

    Cheers, JD
