New Blog - BackFaqs
Quick Summary - This is a new blog, nice clean design. A good About page. Not much content yet but a good start, clear and concise posts.
Blog - It is probably a little soon to evaluate the content of this blog. The couple of posts currently available are well written. New and/or interesting content will be the challenge in this relative narrow niche. The content so far seems to be targeted at the general reader with an issue related to back pain. There are a lot of sites out there covering this topic, so she will need to reach her readers first (excellent SEO/promotion) or approach it in a way that helps it standout.
Blog Design - The blog has a nice clean black and white design. Although, to my sensibilities the overall impression is a little harsh. Some pictures with the posts or color accents could be used to soften the impact. I would probably move the adwords in the sidebar to the far right to improve access to the navigation, and look for other sources of monitorization. Adwords at the top and bottom of each post and in the sidebar seems like overkill to me.
The only design decision that I would take serious issue with was the inclusion of the link to an outside supplier of vitamins in the top menu. Besides the fact that the design of that site is intrusive, with popups and cramped, overloaded content, it is not clear what the relationship is to the blog’s topic.
I like the home page organization with a full post followed by post excerpts, sort of best of both world approach.
C. Technical Review - Overall there are no real technical issues with the blog. Loads fast, has all of the essential components, urls are well formed, I like the use of categories over archives, in a blog like this I am not sure that date archive should even be included.
