One of the reasons we get stressed is that we fear death. One of the reasons we fear death is that we would likely miss out on doing the things we never got to do before we died. So, we spend what’s left of this life cramming in as much "quality time" as we possibly can, in a race against death. Life is too short for that. To help you prioritze your "life list", "bucket list", or just your average day, here are things you can not bother stressing out about, because life is too short.
Wearing Matching Socks
My Mom can’t understand why I often don’t bother wearing matching socks. I can’t understand why she’s paying so much attention to my feet. If a sock doesn’t have a hole in it, it’s fair game, as far as I’m concerned. Life is too short to go hunting through the laundry basket and the sock drawer just to find one sock. Stick something over your feet and be done with it.
Watching All Of The Local News
I live in the Philadelphia area, where the news on most stations lasts for two hours — a half hour for the national news and one and a half hours for the local news. Granted, Philly is a happenin’ town, but not an hour and a half a day happenin’. As expected, the same stories are repeated over and over again.
I think they have if right in England. Know how long the local news lasts? Fifteen minutes, repeated a few times a day (but not in a row). That’s all you need. Unless you want to go out and make some news yourself.
Waiting For A Lover To Phone
Not.
Gonna.
Happen.
And if it does happen, you can be pleasantly surprised. However, life is far too short to spend staring at a phone that refuses to ring. You could be spending the time getting a more compassionate lover, for instance. Or, you could chuck the whole romance game and just adopt a pet.
Writing Lists
Speaking of which, I’m a busy girl, so I better get going. I’ll be busy not wearing matching socks, waiting for a lover to phone or watching the local news, that’s for sure.
Hope this helps.
